| • Yale Women were pioneers in the push to use Title IX
legislation for gender equity in athletics. In March of 1976 women
wearing nothing but "Title IX" on their chests and backs staged a
protest in the athletic director's office to make clear the need for
women's facilities at the boathouse.
• Ginny Gilder '79 and John Biglow '80 still hold course
records at the Head of the Charles in the Championship Singles
Events. Both records were set in 1982. Ginny's time over the 3-mile
course is 18:45.6 and John's time for the distance still stands at
17:29.8. |
