Harlon L. Dalton is a tenured professor at Yale Law School and an Episcopal parish priest. He is also a professor (adjunct) of law and religion at Yale Divinity School. Over the past 25 years, Professor Dalton's teaching and writing have examined, in various ways, law's capacity to take account of human complexity. He has written extensively on HIV/AIDS law and on AIDS in communities of color, and from 1989-1993 served on the 15-member National Commission on AIDS. He is the author of Racial Healing (Doubleday 1995), and has lectured widely on the subject. In recent years, he has focused on theology and law as parallel (and overlapping) discourses; on the formation of lawyers; and on the capacity of law to promote human flourishing. He is deeply engaged in the New Haven community, including its clergy and social justice organizations.
