At other times of the year please recycle your SNET directory by placing it next to a recycling bin.

Technoscrap

Batteries and small electronics such as pagers, PDAs and cell phones are regulated waste and must not be discarded in the trash. To make collection of these items easier in your department or on-campus residence please request a TechnoScrap box from Yale Office of Environmental Health and Safety by checking the appropriate box on the Electronics/Universal Waste form. It is available in the Waste Management section of yale.edu/oehs.

Incandescent lightbulbs go into the trash.

Lightsaber-like fluorescent bulbs are collected by Facilities and given to Safety.

Compact fluorescent bulbs should be placed in a cardboard box of matching size and labeled "compact fluorescent." The box should then be given to Recycling or Safety. You can also call either to come pick it up.

Batteries should be recycled in appropriate battery bins.

Include:

non-alkaline batteries, e.g. rechargeable batteries;
cell phones
pagers
mice
cables
PDAs

Electronics

Computers and all other electronics used for entertainment or data storage/transfer are Universal regulated waste and must be collected for recycling. Do not discard any of these items in the trash. Please contact the Yale Office of Environmental Health and Safety (OEH&S) to have your on-campus electronics collected free of charge.

Fill out the "Universal Waste/Used Electronics Form" available on the OEH&S web site. Fax it to 432-6148 or email to waste.requests@yale.edu.
