Departmental Facilities
The Department is located near the center of the University. Kirtland Hall, at 2 Hillhouse Avenue,is completely devoted to psychology. It houses offices, laboratories, seminar rooms, and specialized work spaces as well as administrative quarters and a lounge. Extensive supplementary facilities are in two adjacent buildings, Strathcona Hall (SSS) and Dunham Laboratories. Laboratories for animal research are installed in Dunham. The Psychological Services Clinic is housed in a fourth building around the corner from Kirtland Hall.

Technical facilities available for research and teaching include: a University mechanical and electronics shop with full-time instrument makers; animal colony, animal surgery, and histology laboratory; and special suites of rooms equipped for observation, communication, and recording as required for clinical supervision or for interview training and research in experimental social psychology and in child development. The Department has access to the resources of the Yale Information and Technology Services. Training is available in a variety of programming languages. Remote computer terminals are available, and individual micro-computers are commonly located in faculty laboratories and in small clusters throughout the Department.

Many of the books and journals in psychology are currently housed in the Sterling Memorial Library, two blocks from the Department. Also available are relevant collections in the Kline Science Library, the Seeley Mudd Library, the Social Science Library, and the Medical School Library.

Present departmental policy is to provide work space for each graduate student. Some of these spaces are in laboratories, whereas others are in shared rooms set aside for that purpose.
