Purchasing Recycled Toner Cartridges

Recycled toner cartridges are cartridges that have been used at least once and then disassembled, cleaned and had worn parts replaced and toner refilled. These cartridges have been tested for quality and endorsed by RIS so you can use them with confidence.

By purchasing recycled toner cartridges, you can save money while helping the environment. Terrific savings are available on recycled toner cartridges through OfficeMax, our Strategic Vendor for Office Supplies. OfficeMax offers recycled toner cartridges for many office machines that are frequently used around the University.

Note: The use of remanufactured toner cartridges will not effect the warranty on your printers, copiers and fax machines.

Recycling Used Toner Cartridges

OfficeMax drivers will pick up all types of toner cartridges from printers, copiers and fax machines regardless of manufacturer and whether or not they were purchased from OfficeMax. If you are purchasing your supplies from OfficeMax, these cartridges can be left in the area where your office supplies are delivered.

All used cartridges must be in a cardboard box. We recommend using an empty copy paper box because you might as well recycle that, too! Please print the sign below and hang it on the wall to indicate where faculty, staff and students can leave their cartridges. Be sure to inform others of this location and encourage their participation.

Paper and toner saving hints:

• Use print preview to reduce the number of drafts you actually print.
• Use electronic mail whenever possible.
• Use the draft print option wherever possible.
• Fun tip: Domtar paper wrappers are printed on the inside with attractive designs so that you can even recycle the wrapper as gift wrap!
