Health Coverage and other Major Benefits
Policies regarding health coverage, vacations, leaves, and tuition assistance are described in Section 2 of the Postdoctoral Policies. Complete descriptions of postdoctoral benefits are available on the Yale Benefits website, and benefits counselors are available at 432-5550.
Please note: Postdoctoral Fellows are not eligible for COBRA coverage. Please consult Yale Benefits for further information.

Gym and Library Privileges
All postdoctoral appointees and their spouses/partners are eligible to use Payne Whitney Gym and other athletic facilities for a fee ($312 - $390 per person for the 2007-08 year). Call the Payne Whitney Membership office at 432-2474 for more details. University library and YSM library access, as well as access to online journals from the Yale network, is also free.
Counseling
All appointees have access to Yale’s Employee Assistance Program, which provides confidential assistance with personal problems that affect family life, health, or job performance. Call 1-800-232-6092 to discuss a problem or set up an appointment.
Student Loan Deferral
Some student loans from U.S. lending institutions are eligible for payment deferral during your postdoctoral training. Postdoctoral fellows and associates should bring loan deferment forms to your departmental business offices for signature approval. Some departments may not yet have a designated representative to approve your deferral. Contact Postdoctoral Affairs if this is the case.
Yale WorkLife
The WorkLife program provides services and resources toward improving the quality of life for members of the Yale community and their families. One example of the many resources offered to faculty, staff, postdocs, and students is the Yale Back-up Care and Babysitting for those unexpected last minute situations. NPA and NYAS Memberships
We paid so you don't have to!
The University has become an institutional member of the National Postdoctoral Association (NPA). All postdocs at Yale now have FREE Affiliate membership, if you sign up by following the instructions below:
- Go to : http://www.nationalpostdoc.org
- Click on Membership --> Join the NPA --> Affiliate Member
- Enter your information and choose ""Yale University"" from the Affiliate Institution drop-down menu. You MUST have a valid Yale e-mail address to sign up."
