Matthew Adam Kocher

Matthew Adam Kocher, Ph.D, University of Chicago, 2004, is a lecturer in the Department of Political Science and the International Affairs Council. His research is concerned with the causes and internal dynamics of civil wars and other violent social processes. Recent work by Dr. Kocher has appeared in World Politics, Politics and Society, and Política y Gobierno. His University of Chicago dissertation Human Ecology and Civil War was the winner of the American Political Science Association’s 2006 Gabriel A. Almond Award for the best dissertation in Comparative Politics. He has previously taught at CIDE, the University of Notre Dame, and the University of Chicago.
