Welcome to the website of the Conference on Distributive Politics. This is one of a series of conferences that is part of the Yale Department of Political Science's Initiative on Rethinking Political Order: The Nation State in the Emerging World. The conferences will result in a set of published books that are intended to exemplify and advance the best political science. This conference will focus on the politics of economic and social distribution. Participants will offer original contributions, both conceptual and empirical, that span the disciplines of political science, economics, sociology, history and law. The papers will explore, among other topics: The relations between democratic politics and welfare states, the role of coalitions in influencing redistribution through government, the effects of electoral systems on redistributive policies and the constraints on national distributive arrangements in the face of globalization. The conference will bring together a distinguished group of scholars representing a diversity of disciplines and methodological approaches. The learn more, click on one of the links on the left. |
