Yale University Report on Campus Security in 2006 As we do each year consistent with Federal law, we are posting Yale's report on campus security. This report includes a listing of policies and procedures intended to keep the campus safe, and data on crime for 2006. Available here, the report uses federally-mandated definitions concerning the locations of crimes in order to allow for comparisons across campuses. The Yale data, along with comparable information from other colleges and universities, are published electronically by the U.S. Department of Education and can be viewed at  http://ope.ed.gov/security/Search.asp.

It is also important to note that the Yale Police and the Office of the Secretary monitor a much larger geographic area and report information on incidents that may not be included in the federally-mandated definitions in order to increase awareness and inform our community about serious events.

We hope you will take the opportunity to review the report and to become familiar with the services and programs that are available to help keep the campus safe.

Citizen's Police Academy The Yale University Police Department will be hosting a Citizen's Police Academy here at police headquarters beginning March 25. The course will be held Tuesdays 3/25, 4/1, 4/8, 4/15 and 4/22 and one session on Thursday, 4/17, from 6:00 to 8:30PM.

The goal of the Academy is to provide an increased understanding and awareness of police operations, responsibilities and capabilities and to promote the partnership between the police department and the community.  Sessions will include classroom training and hands-on activities. Classes are limited to 30 attendees and are free of charge.

Click here for our flyer with complete information on how to register for the Academy along with our press release discussing our last police academy and attendee reviews.

We look forward to seeing you during our next academy session!
