Slow dynamics in gapless low-dimensional systems

Abstract: In this talk I will suggest a classification of possible response of gapless low dimensional systems to a slow external drive. I will argue that in general there can be three different regimes: mean field, non-analytic and non-adiabatic. In the last regimes the limits of the ramp speed going to zero and the system size going to infinity do not commute. If time permits, I will also briefly discuss the fate of moving superfluids in optical lattices and argue how non-equlibrium dynamics can be used for accurate measurements of the equilibrium phase diagram.
