The ups and downs, and the strange charm of roadmaps: about the future of nuclear physics

Abstract: Nuclear physics, a field of science with a well-known tradition, keeps revealing unexpected surprises. They arise on the one hand from the fundamental underpinnings of the strong force and its realization in the nuclear systems. But recent discoveries in nuclei and nuclear matter also arise from the experimental capabilities and approaches that new dedicated facilities provide. The talk will be an attempt to give an overview about current status and future opportunities.
