Very Long Baseline Neutrino Oscillations and Leptonic CP Violaton

Abstract: Quantum oscillations among different neutrino species has been established for solar, atmospheric and reactor produced neutrinos. Nevertheless, many questions about neutrino properties remain. What are the neutrino masses? What are their mixing angles? Do oscillations violate CP? Are they connected to the matter-antimatter asymmetry of the universe? Do neutrinos exhibit other more exotic properties? A program of neutrino physics designed to answer these questions and others is described. It entails sending an accelerator generated neutrino beam about 2500km to a large underground detector at the future National Underground Lab and studying in detail the pattern of oscillations. Other potential discoveries at such a facility will also be discussed.
