Spin in the Quantum Many-Body World --- Entanglement Entropy, Decoherence, and the Landau-Zener-Stückelberg-Majorana riddle
Abstract: The description of strongly correlated quantum systems and the associated entanglement represent one of the big challenges and opportunities in theoretical physics and quantum information science. To illustrate those ideas, we consider a main quantum character, a spin-1/2 particle, and show fascinating effects of the surrounding quantum many-body environment such as decoherence, quantum entropy, unusual Rabi oscillations and quantum phase transitions. We also discuss a many-body generalization of the Landau-Zener-Stückelberg-Majorana problem. Experimental applications of those concepts and results are also addressed.
