Peace Games at Yale is an undergraduate organization whose primary purpose is to educate young children about the power of cooperation and non-violent conflict resolution and to equip them with relevant skills through an innovative, hands on learning method.

With the support and assistance of the Greater New Haven Area School District and other educational agencies, Peace Games volunteers teach the Peace Games at Yale curriculum to some 600 students in New Haven middle schools and surrounding areas. Peace Games teachers teach their classes in weekly sessions as part of the normal school day. Activities in the curriculum focus on such diverse lessons as analyzing a conflict, discovering what tools exist for resolving a conflict and how to apply them to everyday life, and studying conflict in students' local communities as well as at state and national levels.

The Peace Games teaching philosophy combines class style lectures with cooperative and educational games. Peace Games was founded on the principle that learning is best accomplished when it is not only rigorous, but enjoyable at the same time. Peace Games classes use both time honored cooperation games as well as several activities unique to the Peace Games at Yale curriculum.

The curriculum culminates with Peace Games students creating their own peace games, which illustrate several of the principles or ideas that the students have learned. These games are exhibited and played at the Peace Games Festival, a day long event that brings all the students in the Peace Games program together for a day of enjoyable activities which include workshops held by Yale student groups, larger cooperative games, and informative and relevant speakers.

Peace Games is entirely staffed, administrated and run by Yale Undergraduate students with the assistance of Dwight Hall, a not-for-profit organization which facilitates community service in the New Haven community.

Peace Games at Yale receives all of its operating income from cash and in-kind donations from the New Haven community and from national corporations and foundations. The Peace Games at Yale program and Festival are free for all participants.
