Updated May 24th, 2003

Join our e-mailing list to receive information about Outland and/or Larry Kramer activities, as well as other lgbtq events at Yale and New Haven.
The volume is usually quite low (1 to 9 messages per week), and you may choose between receiving the emails as they are sent (default setting) or an automatic daily digest (i.e. one email a day containing all the messages in stacked format).
It is new list, 100% protected from commercial spam (read below how to send messages to the list).
If concerns arise regarding volume, privacy, or management of the list, please contact Gabriele.

Confidentiality & Privacy.

The list is kept as confidential as possible, but we cannot take any responsibility. As of today, only the Outland’s postmaster (Gabriele H.) and the head of Larry Kramer Initiative for Lesbian and Gay Studies (Prof. Jonathan. D. Katz) have access to the list. The list is stored on Yale ITS machines. You may sign up using an anonymous, commercial account.
If you choose to send messages to the list directly, then your address is automatically disclosed to the readers.

Subscribing

Go to the following page. It takes less than 10 seconds!!
"Name" may be your name or a screen name.
"Email Address" may be the Yale email or an anonymous/commercial one.
Ignore the two checkboxes (most of the commands listed in the “Help” have been disabled for privacy reasons, anyway)
Choose “Subscribe” from the pull down menu.
The "Listname" is OUTLAND-L
You will receive an email with a CONFIRMATION-REQUEST number. Just click reply and send without changing anything and you are in!
You will receive a final confirmation message.

Problems? Scared by automatic systems? contact Gabriele she’ll sign you in

Switching to the Daily Digest

Would like to receive a daily digest? i.e. only one email a day containing all Outland emails of the day (and a topic list at the top).

First Subscribe as explained here above (unless you are already subscribed, of course).
Then go to this page (if you subscribed as explained here above, it is the same page).
"Name" may be your name or a screen name (curiously enough, it does not need to match with the one you used to subscribe).
"Email Address" must be the same you used to subscribe (it’s the one where you receive the Outland emails).
Ignore the two checkboxes.
Choose “Digest” from the pull down menu.
The "Listname" is OUTLAND-L
Done!

Problems? contact Gabriele

Unsubscribing

The procedure is the same both for people subscribed to the default option and for people subscribed to the digest.

Go to the following page.

"Name" may be your name or a screen name (It does not need to match with the one you used to subscribe).

"Email Address" must be the one where you are currently receiving the Outland emails.

Choose “unsubscribe” from the pull down menu.

The "Listname" is OUTLAND-L

Done! Good-luck with your future destinations.

Sending to everybody on the list

We have a new email address for the list. It is possible to post a message to the list if and only if you are a member of the list yourself (anti-spam measure). You MUST use the same email account that you used to sign up. The you can find it only any email you received from Outland .Alternatively you may contact us and we’ll tell you.

You may also send messages to the list without subscribing by sending them to us with instruction to forward them.

Any message sent to the list directly by you is automatically forwarded to everyone, therefore your email address will be readable by everyone.

If you prefer not to email everyone yourself, feel free to send your message to us, please write clearly and explicitly that you prefer us to forward it in an anonymous format.

Note: Please be careful when replying to messages sent to the list. Some email software will direct your reply to all recipients rather than just the sender. If that is not what you intend, you will have to remove the list address from the To: or Cc: line.
