Student Responsibilities
Production Timelines - Technical Director
The Technical Director holds one of the most demanding positions on the student production staff in terms of required skills and time commitment. The TD must be a leader capable of initiating and sustaining the build and installation process as well as organizing a group of other students while monitoring the safe and steady flow of work.
Prior to accepting position as Technical Director
Be sure you have attended, or can arrange to attend, any workshops required by the Technical Advisor in the OUP for your production. Be sure to check with the OUP as these requirements may change based on the demands of any given project.
4-6 Weeks Prior To Load-In
Attend concept meeting(s) with Director and design staff if possible.
Attend first OUP Production Meeting
2 Weeks Prior To Load-In
Attend second OUP production Meeting.
Review design drawings provided to SD.
Cooperate with SD in developing material estimates.
From 2 Weeks Out Through Load-in
Meet with TA in the OUP to address any questions.
Work w/SD to insure designs are properly executed.
Coordinate work of paint crew.
Load-In
Insure elements are loaded in according to plan and elements are working as planned.
Tech Week
Attend rehearsals as needed to integrate scenic elements into performance.
Strike
Work with crew to strike scenic elements.
Return any equipment rentals.
Be sure space is clean.
