Production Timelines - Scenic Designer
The Scenic Designer must be able to effectively communicate his/her designs to the rest of the production staff. This requires that a series of drawings be completed. It is especially important that the set designers work be completed in a timely way as so many other members of the production staff must have these designs in order to proceed with their work.
4-6 Weeks Prior To Load-In
Attend first OUP Production Meeting.
Complete concept meeting(s) with Director and other designers.
Basic sketches for first OUP mtg.
Communicate basic intentions with student Technical Director.
2 Weeks Prior To Load-In
Attend second OUP Production Meeting.
Complete any changes required by OUP and submit for final approval.
Complete set of design drawings provided to TD.
Cooperate with TD in developing material estimates.
From 2 Weeks Out Through Load-in
Work w/TD to insure designs are properly executed.
Coordinate work of paint crew.
Work with Props Mgr. to coordinate sets with props.
Attend rehearsal run through.
Load-In
Insure elements are loaded in according to plan and elements are working as planned.
Tech Week
Attend rehearsals as needed to integrate scenic elements into performance.
