Production Timelines - Lighting Designer
The Lighting Designer should be involved early on in concept meetings with the Director and other design staff. Once set designs are complete the LD must complete an accurate light plot. It is especially important that this work be completed in a timely way in order for the Master Electrician to proceed with his/her work.
4-6 Weeks Prior To Load-In
Attend concept meeting(s) with Director and other designers.
Attend first OUP Production Meeting.
2 Weeks Prior To Load-In
Attend second OUP Production Meeting.
Develop Light Plot once set designs are complete.
1 Week Prior To Load-In
Complete Light Plot and review with OUP.
Turn Plot over to ME.
From 1 Week Through To Load-in
Work w/ME to insure equipment is available.
Work w/ME to create Circuit Plot.
Attend rehearsal run through.
Load-In
Insure equipment is loaded in according to plan and elements are working as planned.
Work with ME to focus light plot.
Tech Week
Attend Tech rehearsals.
Work with director to build lx cues and integrate lx into show.
