Student Responsibilities

Production Timelines - Master Electrician

The Master Electrician is the person who works most closely with the lighting designer and is responsible for actually executing the design. Efficient planning in a timely way is crucial as this work is executed in a very restricted time frame.

Before Accepting Position of ME
Arrange to attend Basic Lighting Workshop and Ladder/Scaffold Safety Workshop if not already attended.

4 Weeks Prior to Load-In
Attend first OUP Production Meeting

2 Weeks Prior To Load-In
Attend second OUP Production Meeting.

1 Week Prior To Load-In
Review Light Plot with LX designer.

From 1 Week Through To Load-in
Identify equipment needs.
Arrange for any equipment rental required.
Order color gel.
Create circuit plot.
Assemble incidentals needed; gaff tape, tie line, etc.
Meet with crew to plan load-in schedule.

Load-In
Insure equipment is loaded in according to plan and elements are working as planned.
Work with LD to focus light plot.

Tech Week
Attend Tech rehearsals.
Work with LD to build lx cues and integrate lx into show.

Strike
Work with crew to strike plot.
Return rental equipment.
