House Managers

Description of the Position:House Managers serve as hosts, and fulfill vital life-safety roles, for a variety of undergraduate student-produced productions, including theater, dance, improv, sketch comedy, and musical performances.

Requirements of the Position: Ability to provide the highest level of customer service to all patrons of undergraduate productions, and to ensure at all times the highest level of safety for the audiences in our venues.

Training is provided in several phases as the student House Managers progress through the program, beginning with an introductory workshop that covers the essential skills necessary for the job.  Throughout the year, intensive training sessions are provided in collaboration with other Yale departments including topics such as CPR, First Aid, and Fire Safety.  In addition, mentorship is provided by upperclassmen and on-site training is provided by the Office of Undergraduate Production throughout the year.

 

Theater Technician I

Description of the Position:  Theater Technician I position provides quality customer services for lighting, sound and props rentals, technical maintenance and repairs to theaters, retrieval and cataloging of props from student productions.

Requirements for the Position:  Ability to work independently on non-routine assignments.  An interest in developing new projects and initiatives for better customer service.  Use of previously acquired technical theater skills as well as aptitude for learning new skills and techniques.  Attention to detail and careful management of rental payments.

Theater Technician II

Description of the Position:  Theater Technician II provides quality customer services for lighting, sound and props rentals, technical maintenance and repairs to theaters, retrieval and cataloging of props and student productions, training of new employees.

Requirements for the Position:  Ability to work independently on non-routine assignments.  An interest in developing new projects and initiatives for better customer service.  Use of previously acquired technical theater skills as well as aptitude for learning new skills and techniques.  Attention to detail and careful management of rental payments.  An interest and ability providing technical training to new employees.

Audio & Visual Technician I

The Audio & Visual Tech position provides quality customer services for sound and projection projects.  This includes the care, storage and maintenance of rental equipment used for theatrical productions.

Ability to work short shifts on weekends (days and/or evenings).  Ability to work independently on non-routine assignments.  An interest in developing new projects and initiatives for better customer service.  Use of previously acquired technical theater skills as well as an aptitude for learning new skills and techniques.  Attention to detail and careful management of rental payments.
