Office of Environmental Health & Safety

Office of Environmental Health & Safety (OEHS) provides technical advice on specific safety and health issues and serves as an additional resource on production safety.  OEHS review is not mandatory, but will provide oversight and safety review as needed or requested by anyone involved in the production or any of the named approval authorities.

The Office of Environmental Health & Safety (OEHS) is a service department within Yale University dedicated to providing faculty, staff, students, and visitors a healthy and safe working environment. OEHS provides oversight of all University operations to ensure that these operations are conducted using appropriate standards of safety and are in compliance with University policies and all applicable local, state and federal regulations. To fulfill its mission, OEHS develops safety policies and programs, provides safety training, conducts inspections of laboratories and facilities, responds to emergencies, and provides technical services that identify, evaluate and control potentially hazardous agents and situations. The Office is staffed with biologists, chemists, health physicists, industrial hygienists, and safety engineers trained in the recognition and control of hazardous situations involving chemicals, infectious agents, radiation, and physical agents.
