Conference to explore the future of language

"Language in the Twenty-First Century" will be the topic of a conference taking place Sunday and Monday, June 6 and 7, in Rm. 208 of the Whitney Humanities Center, 53 Wall St.

Sponsored by the WHC and the Center for Research and Documentation on World Language Problems, the conference will focus on likely major issues in communication across languages in the coming century. Twenty-five experts from around the world have been invited to present their views.

The program will include panels and talks on "Issues and Priorities," "Language Policy and Choice," "Language and the Future of Education," "Language and the Future of Cultures," "Technology and Translation" and "Language in the Twenty-First Century: A Newly Informed Perspective." The event will close with a reception.
