Overview
Possibly the most rewarding work study jobs in the nation! Make a real difference in a child's life by helping them to improve their reading and math skills. Last semester 163 Yale students participated in these exciting programs.
Tutor Qualifications
We seek tutors who believe in the potential of their students and remain strong in their conviction that they can and will ensure their students' success.
Tutors will be asked to:
- Set ambitious goals for their students' academic achievement and to pursue those goals relentlessly, creatively, and resourcefully.
- Effectively manage their students' behavior.
- Develop short and long term plans for instruction.
- Assess and report their students' weekly progress.
- Maintain punctuality and attendance.
- Attend all training sessions and program activities.
- Check e-mail regularly to stay aware of schedule changes and special events.
Time commitment and compensation
Approximately 7-10 hours per week. Students eligible for federal work study are paid at the rate of $14/hour unless otherwise noted.
