Gopher Pick of the Month

Worried about the Republicans? You can keep a careful eye on them by gophering to these two sites:

gopher://gopher.senate.gov

gopher://gopher.house.gov

On the Senate side, a remarkably poor interface brings to you a Senator's individual folder (if the office has chosen to post one). Here you can look at general information and press releases, and you can even download a gif of Ted Kennedy to use for your startup screen (I did). You can also check out committee information.

Over at the House, you can't download Newt (what a pity), but you can check out committee information, floor schedules, and a metro DC area weather report. Congresspeople seem to be behind Senators in posting individual folders, but there are a few kicking about. Granted, Chief Justice Renquist doesn't yet have a home page, but at least Congress and the Executive (http:www.whitehouse.gov) branches have entered the electronic age.
