Hard Disks and Tape Backups Now at MCSC Counter
With computer applications getting bigger and bigger that 80MB hard disk you purchased a year or two ago probably seems awfully small these days. A cost effective way to prolong the life of your computer is to add an external hard disk. And when you do finally move up to a bigger and better system, the external drive can move with you and will still be useful for backup or just extra storage.
The MCSC now carries several lines of popular disk drives depending on your needs and budget. Microtech makes high quality hard disks ranging in size from 350MB to 1GB. Starting at $244 these attach to most Macs and those PCs with SCSI adapters.
Removable drives offer you the added advantage of never running out of storage room. They use inexpensive cartridges and you can buy as many as you need. The Zip drive from Iomega sells for only $199. These drives use 100mb cartridges. Syquest drives come in several sizes and use cartridges ranging from 88mb to 270MB. They start at $400.
The Colorado Trakker 350 external tape backup drive is another new product in stock at the MCSC counter. It attaches to the parallel port of any PC. DOS and Windows applications are included for automating the backup process. The drives sell for $252. Additional tapes are only $19.20. For more information on any of the products described stop by one of the MCSC showrooms and talk to one of the consultants.
