IC Ambassadors

International Center (IC) Ambassadors are a select group of volunteers that commit to devote several hours each semester to help plan and run programs that serve Yale’s international student, spouse/partner, and scholar populations, and that create a greater sense of community at the International Center for Yale Students and Scholars. Graduate and Professional School students, their spouses/partners, as well as Yale faculty and staff are welcome to apply.

IC Ambassadors possess a variety of talents, such as foreign language skills, professional experience, and cultural awareness, and serve as a valuable resource for newcomers to Yale and New Haven. Ambassadors enjoy being part of a team that values the opportunity to spend time with members of Yale’s vibrant international community. IC Ambassadors work closely with the McDougal International Fellows and are advised by the Office of International Students & Scholars (OISS) and Graduate Student Life (GSL) at the McDougal Center.

Time commitment: 2-4 hours per month, with a particular need for volunteers during the months of August and September.

IC Ambassadors will have the opportunity to be involved in any or all of the following activities:

  • helping to run and develop social, cultural, and informational events for the community of international students and scholars at Yale.
  • accompanying daytrips outside of New Haven (any associated expenses will be covered by OISS or GSL).
  • generating photos and videos, and contributing other content to the OISS Web site and Facebook page.
  • attending periodic planning meetings (approximately once per semester).
