When should I arrive for OIS 2013? You should arrive for OIS anytime between 12 noon on Sunday, August 18 and 12 noon on Monday, August 19th. Housing will be available beginning Sunday night, August 18th.
How do I get to New Haven?This link will give you several options for traveling from JFK or other airports to New Haven. If you are planning to arrive on Sunday, August 18th, OIS will provide a bus from JFK at the cost of $55 a person. This bus will leave JFK at 9:00 pm and will arrive at Phelps Gate around 11:00 pm where OIS counselors will meet you. Sign up here.
When does OIS begin? There will be activities for students beginning Sunday afternoon but the formal opening of the program will be early Monday afternoon.
Where will I stay during OIS? You will be staying in a temporary room in Vanderbilt Hall on Old Campus Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights. On Wednesday morning, August 21st you will move to your permanent rooms. OIS counselors will help you move your belongings.
Where will I eat during OIS? OIS will provide all meals during the program, most of which will be in a Residential College dining hall.
Will there be activities for my parents? There will be a few programs for family members late Sunday afternoon, August 18th and Monday afternoon, August 19th. Your family will want to make other plansfrom Monday evening until Friday, August 23rd, when they may want to return to campus for freshman move-in.
