Orientation

For New Scholars

The Yale Office of International Affairs (OIA) and OISS sponsor special orientation sessions once a month for visiting international scholars. The program provides an overview of Yale University, attractions in New Haven, and services available to visitors. You will have the opportunity to meet other international scholars and an optional campus tour is provided. Details are provided when you check in at OISS upon your arrival.

Information for All Students

As new students at Yale, you will likely receive information about several different orientation programs. Certainly you will receive information about the orientation program organized by your school and/or department. It is critically important that you attend these programs. In addition as new international students at Yale, we encourage you to attend the orientation programs designed specially for international students. These programs will both introduce you to Yale’s amazing international community and to those programs and services that may help you with some of the special concerns you have arriving and settling into this new community.

All new international students must check in with the Office of International Students and Scholars as soon as you arrive in New Haven. New graduate and professional international students should come directly to OISS where we will provide you with information about OISS orientation activities and help answer other questions that may be of concern. New Yale College students will complete their OISS check-in as a part of the OIS program.

We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to Yale and New Haven!
