Orientation for International Students in the
Graduate and Professional Schools

Welcome newcomers!  We are excited that you will be joining our community, and want to introduce you to your new campus and life at Yale and in New Haven.

Check in with OISS

All new G&P students are required by law to report to the Office of International Students and Scholars upon their arrival in New Haven. (Failure to check in could result in loss of your legal status in the U.S.)

exclaimPlease Note: The OISS orientation can take up to an hour and a half to complete, so please plan your schedule accordingly.

Monday through Friday

Document Review

Please be certain to have the following documents (for yourself and each of your accompanying dependents):

checkbox Passport
 
checkbox Your immigration document (I-20 or DS-2019)
 
checkbox I-94 number (print your I-94 number to your phone or other portable device or bring a hard copy printout)

Depending on your status you may need to complete some forms.

Attend our "Welcome to Yale" Session

This short session will review important information about your immigration documents as well as introduce you to some valuable international resources around Yale. This is also an opportunity for you to get answers to any settling-in questions you might have.
