Visit to the Cushing Medical Center: Brain Room
421 Temple Street and 333 Cedar Street

Come join us on a guided tour of Yale’s Cushing Center. It’s named after Yale college graduate and pioneer neurosurgeon Dr. Harvey Cushing, regarded by many as the father of modern neurosurgery. The Center includes more than 400 specimen jars with brains and tumors, surgical illustrations, medical materials, among othehings. Dr. Cushing introduced surgery practices that dramatically lowered the mortality rate of patients, and was one of the first doctors to use x-rays for the diagnosis of brain tumors. This tour will cover the history behind his work, and a walk-through the collection that Dr. Cushing left to his alma mater. Meet us at 1:30 at OISS, or meet us directly at 333 Cedar St at 2:00.
