INTERNATIONAL STUDENT & SCHOLAR LIFE AT YALE

Information for New Students

For Incoming Students September 2007

If you are an international student either newly arrived at Yale, or preparing to depart to come and begin your studies, these links should be helpful.  The first thing you will want to do upon arrival at Yale is to check in with the OISS.  Be sure and bring your visa documents (and those of any dependents) with you when you come.  Email if you have any questions or suggestions for additions to this list of resources.

Pre-Arrival Information - Includes tips for booking your flight and packing, what to expect at immigration and other important information.

Arrival Checklist - This will help a newly-arrived international student plan his/her first days

Orientation Programs - The OISS organizes orientation programs for undergraduates, graduate & professional students, postdocs & visiting scholars and spouses and partners at Yale.

HelloYale2007 - To join this interactive e-community and begin networking with other new students as well as students who have been at Yale for awhile, send a blank email to HelloYale2007-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

YaleInternational - This is the e-mail community for Yale's international student and scholar community - over 4000 subscribers.  This busy list serves multiple purposes; it's a marketplace with furniture sales, apartment listings, and shares, and it's also a place to meet others with similar interests, or get information from the community. To subscribe, send a blank email to YaleInternational-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

Handbook for International Students & Scholars at Yale - When you arrive at Yale and check in with the OISS, you will receive a published version of this comprehensive guide to the university and life in New Haven and the U.S.  In the meantime, you can explore the answers to your many questions by reading it on-line!

International and Intercultural Groups & Organizations at Yale are a great way to connect with others!
