Whether you have just arrived or if you’ve been here for awhile, the shopping information here will give you an overview of what is available in the immediate and surrounding areas to help you set up and maintain your home as well as help you survive your first New England Winter.

You should be able to find whatever you need within walking or biking distance of the Yale campus.  There is also good shopping in the surrounding areas that is accessible by bus or car.

The state of Connecticut charges an additional 6% sales tax on goods and services, and it will be added to the price when the purchase is made.  Currently, items of clothing and footwear under $50 are exempt from sales tax.  For a list of sales tax exempt items can be found at www.ct.gov/drs.
