Even with insurance, dental and vision care in the U.S. can be quite expensive, so many will make arrangements to take care of dental work and purchase corrective lenses while visiting their home country. Yale Health does not offer dental or vision insurance, however with their Hospitalizatin/Specialty Care coverage you can receive eye care in their Ophthalmology Department. Students can purchase an optional dental/vision discount plan through Co-Health. Visiting scholars, faculty and postdocs who are employed at Yale can purchase a dental or vision insurance plan that provides partial coverage. Should you need dental care in the U.S., it’s a good idea to ask for a referral from someone you trust.
Dental Emergencies can be addressed at any hospital emergency room, and it is sometimes possible to get same-day appointments at a private dental office if you call in advance.
Appointment cancellations must be made in accordance with office policy (usually 24 to 48 hours in advance) or you could be charged in full for a missed appointment.
