Certificate Request

For Yale Scholars Only

If you are about to complete your Yale appointment, please use the link below to request a Yale certificate signed by President Richard Levin and Vice President Linda Lorimer as a small token of recognition for your participation in the activities of Yale University.

Student interns are not eligible for the certificate. Interns should contact their department for a letter of completion.

Please keep the following important points in mind:

  • Your certificate will be issued no earlier than four weeks before the end date of your appointment (as listed on your most recent immigration document).
  • If the end date of your appointment changes after you have made your request, please submit a new certificate request.
  • OISS will notify you via e-mail when your certificate is ready to be picked up at the front desk.
  • We cannot guarantee that you will receive your certificate before you leave Yale. In case the certificate has not been issued by the time you leave Yale, we will happily mail it to you once it is done.

NOTE: If you are leaving Yale earlier than the expiration of your J-1 (DS-2019) or H-1B (I-797 Notice) then you will also need to contact your department to make sure they have notified OISS of the early departure.

There can be serious immigration complications when an early departure is not recorded correctly.
