Optional Practical Training (OPT) Information Update
Effective immediately, all students on F-1 OPT are required to report to OISS within 10 days of any change in your:
- residential address
- name and address of your employer
- employment status, including when you stop using OPT at anytime during the authorized period, e.g. change to H-1B, leave the U.S. etc.
Remember, you must report all changes throughout your period of OPT, including when you stop working for one employer and start working for another. Failure to report these changes will likely jeopardize your immigration status in the future.
Another change to the OPT regulations is that only 90 days of unemployment is permitted. For a complete explanation of the changes to the OPT regulations go to this page.
