About
the Office of Institutional Research
The purpose of the Office of Institutional Research (OIR)
is to provide information for university decision making through
a variety of analytic activities, data-gathering tasks, and
research projects. OIR reports to and places first priority
on work for the Provost, while also working regularly with
many others throughout the University. The office engages
in factfinding and writes research reports on educational
and administrative issues, and makes relevant data available
to the University administration, and to the University community
when appropriate. The office also serves as a clearinghouse
for most statistical information about the University.
OIR was begun in 1971 and currently has 3 research professionals
and 2 supporting professionals.
