Chemical Safety
The Chemical Safety program is responsible for
the control of health hazards related to chemical and physical
agents within the University community. Programs implementing
University policy have been established to protect the health
and safety of students, faculty and staff, as well as meet the
regulatory requirements under OSHA, EPA, and state and local
authorities. Program have been established to annually inspect
all laboratory and non-laboratory areas, assess exposures to
chemical and physical agents, provide for the safe use of respiratory
protection and other personal protective equipment, assist investigators
in the handling, storage, and disposal of highly hazardous chemicals,
investigate indoor air quality and odor complaints, as well
as comply with an assortment of OSHA standards including Hazard
Communication, Occupational Exposure to Hazardous Chemicals
in Laboratories, Formaldehyde, Methylene Chloride, Noise and
Hearing Conservation, and Respiratory Protection.
