Labor Distribution Default Organizations and Schedules
Return to Core PageBack to Index Page

Organization Default Accounts (ODAs) and Organization Default Labor Schedules (ODLSs) are tools to make scheduling and time keeping more efficient. These PTAEOs were determined by the Labor Distribution Administrator. If you wish to change these PTAEOs, contact the LD Administrator at GA.LD@yale.edu .

ODAs and ODLSs cannot include a sponsored Award. This business rule is intended to prevent the inadvertent charging to a sponsored Award.

Organization Default Account (ODA)

All Service and Maintenance employees will have an ODA based on his or her Home Organization. This PTAEO will populate the KRONOS screen that a supervisor will see. The supervisor will then have the option of using this default PTAEO or entering a different PTAEO. In KRONOS, they are the first four labor levels.

Students and Casuals will have their time entry form populated with a PTAEO. If they are scheduled at the Assignment level, the Assignment level PTAEO will appear. If they are not scheduled at the Assignment level their Home Organizationís ODA PTAEO will appear. In any case, their supervisors will be able to change this PTAEO before submitting the payroll.

Organization Default Labor Schedule (ODLS)

If an employee is paid on the monthly or biweekly payroll and the employee is not scheduled at either the Earnings Element level or at the Assignment level, his or her earnings will be charged to his or her Home Organizationís ODLS. If you have a new employee whose PTAEO will be the same PTAEO as his or her Home Organizationís ODLS, then you do not need to do any scheduling in LD.

The downside of having an ODLS is that if you forget to schedule someone at the Assignment level, his or her earnings will automatically go to his or her Home Organizationís ODLS; this may be an inappropriate PTAEO for this person. If for this reason you do not wish to have an ODLS, make this request to the LD Administrator.
