I'm just not very good at keeping this updated. If you're not already, you're best off getting on our panlist. Shoot me an e-mail.
Trip on the weekend of the 9th went well, although trip this weekend is cancelled. Plan is to go to Maine next weekend, let Kai know if you're interested.
I've posted a couple of pictures from the last two years on the photo page.

We had a meeting right before break, but don't worry if you didn't make it. We discussed leading trips, racing, and touring in the TD Common Room.
If you are at all interested in racing, and you haven't spoken to me, let me know as soon as possible. I'm not positive that we'll be able to do something competitive as a team, but I'm looking into it and would like to have a headcount.

Here's an e-mail that went out on the panlist earlier today:

Hey!

Maybe I should start this email off with a brief intro. My name is Sarah and I'm extremely excited to join Yale's nordic ski team. I've been skiing since I was about five and skiing competitively for about four years. My high school team was fantastic (not because we won meets, but because we're just cool people. haha) and I know Yale's team will be fantastic as well.

Anyway, back to the ROLLER SKIING part... Anyone interested in roller skiing with me? I'm thinking Saturday afternoon and any weekday morning. I haven't actually done it since the very beginning of summer, so we can expect some fun falls. Even if you aren't interested in roller skiing, could you let me know where the best places to go are?

Love to all of my fellow skiers,

Sarah Hill

Also, answers to some questions:

Mmm, I've brought my poles and skis back and forth between here and Alaska several times without incident, but I wouldn't suggest that it's risk-free. On one hand, having a cheap pari of poles sitting around can be nice, but on the other, you'll probably want a better pair here eventually anyway.

Unfortunately, we don't have any roller skis in our equipment closet - although we have a few real skis for once we get snow.

Sorry about that, although if you're in the market, Pursuits are cheap, and I've heard good things about Ski Skett and Marwe.

We're working on getting out registration and funding applications in, and once funding allocations are announced, we'll hold a seasonal organisational meeting.
I met a lot of great people at the open house earlier this month, and I'm predicting a good winter. Several people asked out running or rollerskiing this fall, and I think it's a great idea. I also encourage people to use the panlist, nordicskiing@panlists.yale.edu, so that we can get some things started.

About the webpage: Since (a) it seems to be a midden of interesting stuff from years past, and (b) I haven't had a whole lot of spare time, I probably won't get around to cleaning up all of the pages. I will try to keep the front page updated with pertinent information though, so if there's a workout or a trip going out, it will be mentioned here. And of course, there's always the panlist.
