Graduate
Program
Egyptology
Yale's museums, library, and faculty resources in Egyptology
allow specialization in any period or aspect of Egyptian language,
literature, and civilization, including art and archaeology.
Students in this concentration are expected to acquire a sound
grasp of Egyptian (Old, Middle, and Late), as well as of the
history, literature, art, and archaeology of ancient Egypt.
In addition, Demotic or Coptic is required. Qualified students
may have an opportunity to participate in the Department’s
programs of excavation in Egypt. Research funds are often
available to allow students to carry out dissertation research
in Egypt when necessary. For more information, see www.yale.edu/egyptology.
