2009-10 series: Fourth Concert back to Concerts

Linda Skernick , harpsichord

Linda Skernick received her Master's Degree from the Juilliard School, where she studied under Albert Fuller and Fernando Valenti, harpsichord, and Theodore Lettvin, piano.

Ms. Skernick has toured with Alexander Schneider's Brandenburg Ensemble and performed with Gerard Schwarz's Mostly Mozart Festival, as well as the Seacliff Chamber Players' Long Island Bach Festival, Waterford, CT's Summer Music Festival, and the Chamber Music Plus Series.

Skernick was a member of New York’s “Tafelmusik” Ensemble  and the New York Baroque Consort, and has been soloist with many of the orchestras and chamber series in Connecticut. Skernick frequently plays chamber concerts with area and internationally renowned musicians under the heading, "Linda Skernick & Friends." She presented a New England and New York tour of violin and harpsichord recitals with Philip Setzer (of the Emerson String Quartet), and has presented recitals  with her father, violist Abraham Skernick, baritone Richard Lalli, and flutist Michael Parloff (principal flute, Metropolitan Opera).

A featured soloist with the Connecticut Early Music Festival, and John Solum’s  Hanoverian Ensemble, she was also a founding member of "The Klezical Tradition", a group playing traditional klezmer and classical music, and performs with Orchestra New England, The New Haven Symphony, and the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra. Many of Skernick's performances, including several guest concerts at Music Mountain, Falls Village, CT, have been broadcast by National Public Radio. She has appeared live on WQXR's "The Listening Room" (New York City) and WGBH's "Morning Pro Musica" (Boston). 

Skernick has been  a member of the music faculty at Connecticut College, teaching both piano and harpsichord,  since 1979, and is on the faculty of the Thames Valley Music School, New London, CT. 


During the 2008-09 season she performed an all-Bach recital at Connecticut College, Wesleyan University, and the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory.
