Travel Directions to Marsh Botanic Gardens

YALE SHUTTLE

    The garden is located atop Science Hill and can be reached by both the Blue and Green shuttle bus lines. Ask to be let off at Marsh Hall on Prospect Street at the crest of the hill. Our main office and greenhouses are below Marsh Hall at 227 Mansfield Street.

DRIVING

    Route 15 (Wilbur Cross/Merritt Parkways):

    From north: Take Exit 61. Drive south on Whitney Avenue for approximately 3.6 miles. Turn right onto Highland Street. Continue five blocks (one block past traffic light at Prospect Street) and turn left on Mansfield Street. Proceed for two and a half blocks and look for greenhouses on left. A left turn will take you to the Marsh Gardens main entrance. See parking below.

    From south: Take Exit 59. Drive east on Whalley Avenue for about two and a half miles. Turn left on Sherman Avenue and drive three blocks (West Rock Park will come into view on your left) to Henry Street. Turn right at Henry Street and proceed four blocks, then make a slight right onto Munson Street. Take your second left just past the shuttered factory, onto Mansfield Street. A right turn will take you to the Marsh Gardens main entrance. See parking below.

    Interstate 95:

    From north: Turn off turnpike at I-91 North Exit (Hartford, Springfield Exit) and continue for a short distance on I-91 to Trumbull Street Exit 3. Follow Interstate 91 directions below.

    From south: Turn off turnpike at 1-91 (left exit) and continue for a short distance on I-91 to Trumbull Street Exit 3. Follow Interstate 91 directions below. See parking below.

    Interstate 91:

    From north: Take Exit 3 (Trumbull Street Exit). Drive on Trumbull Street until second traffic light and turn right onto Whitney Avenue. Continue to second traffic light at intersection of Whitney and Edwards Street. Turn left onto Edwards Street. At top of hill turn right on Prospect Street, then make quick left onto Hillside Place. Take next right onto Mansfield Street. The Marsh Gardens main entrance is the first right. See parking below.

PARKING

    Yale does not maintain a visitors parking lot. There is metered parking on all streets around the campus. On-street parking most convenient to Marsh Gardens can be found on Mansfield Street and Hillside Place.

TRAIN

    Amtrak trains run daily through New Haven from Boston and Washington.

    MetroNorth commuter trains run hourly between Grand Central Station, New York and Union Station/New Haven.

    Taxis are readily available at Union Station.
