Internships

Internships are an ideal way to gain valuable experience in a particular field, try out a new field of interest, hone up on professional skills, and make important contacts. For students enrolled in the MA in International Relations an internship between the first and second year is required (although language study or an independent research project can also fulfill the requirement).

Where can you find information about internships?

The Internship Bible – this binder is located in the Macmillan Center Career Resource Library.  It contains:

  • Placement Records of past students, beginning in 1990. This section enables you to see what other MA students have done with their summers.

  • Evaluations of student internship experiences complete with contact information, descriptions, and advice for future internship seekers.

  • Funding information to help defray the cost of your summer internship.

Annual Internship Panel – your internship search should begin here. This panel is held every September, second year students discuss their summer experiences in an informal panel setting. First year students learn about opportunities and the process for finding them. Check the weekly career office newsletter CareerTalk for details.
