Eminent Economist Joins Yale

Rakesh MohanYale University President Richard C. Levin recently announced the appointment of Rakesh Mohan as Professor in the Practice of International Economics and Finance in the Yale School of Management, and as Senior Fellow in the Jackson Institute for Global Affairs at Yale University. An eminent economist and, until recently, the Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, Mohan’s appointment will begin on July 1, 2010.

Judge Goldstone Speaks on Accountability for War Crimes

Judge GoldstoneJudge Richard Goldstone gave the George Herbert Walker Jr. lecture in International Studies on January 27. He spoke to a packed Luce Hall on the subject of “Accountability for War Crimes.” Goldstone is well qualified to address this topic, having served as chief prosecutor for war crimes tribunals in Rwanda and the former Yugoslavia. He also served for almost a decade on the Constitutional Court of his native South Africa.

Levinsohn Named the First Charles W. Goodyear Professor

LevinsohnJames Levinsohn, newly appointed as the inaugural Charles W. Goodyear Professor in Global Affairs, is a specialist on international economics and economic development whose projects have included studying the impact of HIV/AIDS on unemployment in South Africa and working with Sudanese refugees seeking compensation for their forcible removal from their homelands.
