PIER Outreach

The Programs in International Educational Resources (PIER) of The MacMillan Center draw upon Yale University’s extensive resources to develop and implement programs, services, and resources designed to advance understanding of international and world regional issues through outreach to education, business, media, and the public.

The MacMillan Center has a long history of commitment to the dynamic outreach programs in its area and international studies councils. East Asian Studies established the first outreach program in 1974, followed by European (1975), African (1985), International (1990), Latin American (1998), and most recently Middle East (2003) Studies.  Since 2003, outreach programs to educators on the myriad issues pertaining to the Middle East have grown rapidly, so far developing eight intensive summer institutes, three study tours abroad, and dozens of teacher training and student events that bring the modern Middle East into classrooms around the New England region and beyond.

PIER offers many opportunities to advance its mission that is designed to enhance understanding of international and world regional issues to education, business, media, and the public. Some of PIER’s programs and services include:
