Our Mission Statement:
Luther house exists to provide opportunities for people to express and explore their individual faiths in God through community worship, service to others, supportive relationships, Bible study, and prayer.

Our Tutor/Mentor Program at Resurrection Lutheran Church

We are a small group of Yale students, originally Luther House members, who tutor elementary and middle-school-aged children in the Hill neighborhood around Resurrection Lutheran Church. While we are sponsored by Yale University Lutheran Ministries, our aim is not evangelical and many of our tutors are not Lutheran. Instead, our program brings together a small group of tutors (approximately fourteen) together with the same number of children for an opportunity to tutor and mentor one-on-one in a small group setting.

Requirements

*1.5 hours per week

*We meet once a week on Tuesdays at 6:40 at the Yale Dramat on York Street to walk a few blocks to Resurrection. We tutor from 7 till 8 and return to campus by 8:20.

*We are continually impressed by each child’s passionate desire for a tutor who will love him/her and spend time devoted to him/her each week.

Our Tutors

*Each tutor works one-on-one with his or her child, but all tutors also network together to help one another.

*This unique group setting allows flexibility for tutors who need extra help keeping a child under control, or who need to occasionally miss a tutoring session.
