Library Systems Group

The Library Systems Group (LSG) is a unit of ITS Academic Media and Technology. Our principal mission is to provide technology support and consultative services for the Yale University Library. The group consists of four staff persons and a project manager. The staff is charged with the responsibility to provide system administration services to install, customize, and maintain servers that run mission critical applications, like Orbis, for the Library. In addition, the group maintains other servers that support the library's collection development/technical services and public services functions.

Currently the Library Systems Group maintains over thirty five servers that run on a variety of hardware platforms and operating systems including flavors of Unix, Linux and Microsoft Windows. The staff are committed to the support of these servers on a 24X7 basis. Through the project manager the group also engages in special research projects for the library such as digital preservation and other digital library initiatives promoted by the Library.
