New Haven is a great place for families with children of all ages. In addition to the selection of public and private schools and childcare facilities, there are plenty of free and low cost family-friendly activities. The museums, parks department, libraries and arts community provide scores of opportunities for children to learn, create and grow. In the summer, the city buzzes with street festivals, parades, fireworks, cultural celebrations and concerts on the Green. Excellent health care systems, including the Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital and the Yale Health Plan, and parenting resources support families as well.
