I just wanted to point out the existence of the
unix-sysadmins-security@lists.yale.edu list, which is used by ITS
(particularly the growing ITS Information Security Office) to notify
people of Unix-related security issues. (It's not a discussion list.)
At the very least, it's good to know about the scans they conduct so you
know it's them and not a real attacker. You can subscribe by mailing
listproc@lists.yale.edu with the request
subscribe unix-sysadmins-security Your-name
in the body.

ITS, Yale University
Starting this evening (01/22/97) and continuing over the weekend, the
Information Security Office will be running a campus wide network scan.
Therefore, if you see entries in your logs from the machine
jhackett-01.its.yale.edu, do not be alarmed.
