subject, I am running dhcpcd (i.e. the Client) not dhcpd (the server).

That should have happened already - I was informed that there is an entry in
the table. Btw., since my system is based on Redhat, I have tried to apply
the respective patches to the dhcpcd - source (among others a glibc-patch,
since my system is glibc-based). All to no avail.
